STANDARD C-416

STANDARD C-416

The STANDARD C-416 is a 70cm Monoband-portable radio with sub-receiver. In some brochures it is described as Semi-Duo-Band-Radio.

This radio was released on marked in 1994 and was produced under the label of MARANTZ. Target marked probably was Russia and some asiatic countries. In Western Europe the STANDARD C-416 is very seldom to find.

The STANDARD C-416 was sold as set containing printed manual, antenna, battery-pack and a battery-charger. You won't need an option for DTMF or CTCSS. Both options are already included in those radios. The STANDARD C-416 is designed for 70cm. And analog to the C-416 you can get a 2m-type, called C-116 (Just for reference).

Maximum rf-power of the STANDARD C-416 is 5W when supplied with 13,8V DC. When using the battery-pack CNB-115 maximum rf-out is 1W. For supplying external DC the STANDARD C-416 has a DC-jack, range: 6V to 16V DC. ! ATTENTION ! TAKE CARE ON POLARISATION WHEN USING THIS DC-JACK. Max. current consumption is abt. 1,5 Ampere. In receiving-mode current consumption is abt. 40mA and you can reduce in down to 15mA in Power-Safe-Mode.

Semi-bi-band-portable-radio

Basicaly the STANDRD C-416 is a one-band-portable for 70m. But as feature you can receive 2m - and you can also transmit there with super-small power of 20mW. It seems that STANDARD did like such features as you also can see on the C-1208. Additionaly you can receive not only the range 144 to 146MHz and 430 to 440MHz. You are also able to receive from 110Mhz to 199MHz in AM and FM. That means you will be able to receice airplane-frequencies. Disadvantage: Sensitivity gets pretty low in those outband-ranges. In the amateur-radio-band sensitivity is as high as you know it from other STANDARD-radios.

Roundabout setting in SET-mode

A bit complicate is the SET-MODE. On the one side, in this SET-MODE you can manage various functions and features. On the other side there is a lot of knowledge necessary for setting all those features as you need them. For hidding all function that were hip in the middle 1990es this SET-MODE has two areas. First area is for frequently used settings, second area is for less needed features and functions. SET-MODE is for setting different parameters, like TONE, utomatic power off, repeater-shift and similar. obere Ebene trägt die häufig benötigten Funktionen, die tiefere Ebene lässt die Einstellung seltener Funktionen zu. Im SET-Mode werden alle Hintergrundparameter, wie Tone-Squelch, automatische Abschaltung, Relais-Ablage und ähnliches eingestellt.

CTCSS and DTMF with STANDARD C-416

DTMF is a feature that was built into all STANDARD C-416 in factory. So you won't need further options for DTMF and you can do Echolink or other by using DTMF. As the manual tells you will also be able to work in CTCSS-mode without additional option. A nice and very usefull feature is the power-safe-mode. In this mode you can drop current consumption down to 15mA, what means that you safe battery-power and enlarge operation time.

Various scan-modes

Several scan- and memory-modes make it possible to make the STANDARD C-416 to your personal radio.
