History, trivia and pricing of this rig

STANDARD has built only four radio receiver. A-402 SW, AX-400, AX-700 and C-6500.

This STANDARD AX-700 is a communication receiver for AM, N-FM and W-FM. His range is 50Mc to 950Mc. This receiver had a panorama display. Next to freqnency the display showed current activity around the received frequency. In the beginning 90es this was a real innovation. Today we all know waterfall-diagrams on SDR and midclass-receiver.

Easy to handle, simple operation

The frontside of the AX-700 was divided into three areas: On the left side the big display dominates the front. In the mid-area you will find the buttons to set frequency, mode and others. On the right side you will find knobs for volume, squelch and VFO. So you will quickly know how to handle this receiver without need of a user-manual. When the STANDARD AX-700 was on sale as new it costed around 1500 Deutsche Mark. Today (2011) The AX-700 is only seldom on used-sale on ebay or hamradio-second-hand-fairs.
